October President's Message

ree

October 2025

Thank you to all who attended our PVRW Luncheon on Thursday, October 2, 2025!  It was a full house with about a dozen first time guests this month!  Thanks to all who are spreading the word!  We had an inspirational talk regarding Charlie Kirk by Michael Greer, a wonderful discussion with Congressman Andy Biggs, and an informative presentation by Kristin Baumgartner regarding our personal involvement in preparation for 2026 elections.

Our Luncheon meeting was called to order by President Lauren Hawkins, followed by the Invocation led by Chaplain Anne Roper and the Pledge of Allegiance to this great country of ours led by our Americanism Chair, Michael Greer.  After the Pledge of Allegiance, Michael Greer gave a heartfelt presentation about her encounters and personal interactions with Charlie Kirk several years ago in California, along with her impressions and pictures of the Charlie Kirk Memorial Service held on September 21st which Michael attended. A memorable time indeed.  Following Michael’s talk, the RWOP Singers provided a very appropriate musical number to close that meeting segment.

After the introductions and meeting kickoff, the Dignitaries and Guests who joined us for the luncheon were introduced.  We appreciate all of our recent new members and interested guests who have joined us over the past several months.  We are so pleased with the expanded space that the Banquet Room at Espire Sports provides, so our friends and neighbors can be invited to join us every month. We had many first-time visitors this month!

President Lauren Hawkins proceeded with several key announcements:

  • PVRW is having a Membership Drive for 2026 starting October 1st through December 31st.  An online or downloadable application is available on our website prescottvalleyrw.com, or hardcopy at our luncheons.

  • It is our civic responsibility to investigate all candidates and ask questions, and today is the day to talk with Congressman Andy Biggs, the next installment of our PVRW Campaign Train.

  • Consider getting involved, staying informed and making a meaningful impact in our community through the many suggestions and opportunities presented by Kristin Baumgartner, the YAVGOP Chair.

We then proceeded directly to Club Business as follows:

  • Lynda Malloy, the PVRW Treasurer, provided an update on our financial position as of September 30th.  Our financial position as a club continues to be healthy and strong, and we appreciate the continued support of our membership.

  • Our final 2025 Membership totals 171 (101 Active and 70 Associate members).  Thank you for this very successful year for PVRW. Thanks to many of our Active and Associate members, we continue to host new members at our luncheons, and we thank many of you who are encouraging others to attend.

  • We continued with our “Member Spotlight” recognition, and our September winner, Dr. Mary Ann Dellingr was featured.  Mary Ann has a very impressive resume, from the various times she lived in Europe, which formulated much of her background, to when she returned to the U.S. and became involved in many aspects of Education.  We have concluded the Member Spotlight for the remainder of 2025 and will consider restarting this in the new year.

Our Caring for America organization for October is the Baskin Breast Care Center at YRM/Dignity Health in Prescott Valley.   Kathy Hoffer, the Manager of the Center, provided an informative presentation including many statistics regarding breast care health.  The presentation was well received, and everyone is encouraged to donate as you are able to this worthy cause.

Our 2026 Candidate speaker this month was Congressman Andy Biggs, candidate for Arizona Governor, introduced by Liz Kennedy.  He spoke highly of Charlie Kirk and the impact he had on Andy’s life.  Andy mentioned focus areas if elected, including housing regulations changes, improving water policies, making Arizona safer, and other important actions.  He has been the Arizona Senate President, served in the Arizona House, has written the Budget, and has pledged  to “DOGE” Arizona if elected.  He will be ready to serve the State from Day 1.  Andy came early, mingled and took pictures with our attendees, enjoyed our buffet lunch, and spoke personally to all of us.  If you were not able to attend, you missed a wonderful segment of our meeting.

Our Special Guest speaker this month was Kristin Baumgartner, who highlighted the YAVGOP strategies as we move forward and the foundational principles they are operating under.  She  shared ways for Republicans, who wish to be more active as we move into 2026, to get involved and make a difference.  She explained what a Precinct Committeeman is and the types of activities that you can assume if desired.  The YAVGOP office is open during the week and feel free to stop by and learn more about this Grassroots Precinct Committeeman position.  Information is available at yavgop.com as well.

The 2025 Nominating Committee report was delivered by Sandi Irwin, Chair, which included a summary of their activities, the interviews and meetings conducted by the Committee, and their process for nominating the recommended Slate for the 2026/2027 PVRW Executive Committee Officers.  After interviewing and evaluating all interested candidates, per the PVRW Bylaws, the Nominating Committee unanimously offers the following Slate of Officers for the 2026/2027 Executive Committee:

President:  Lauren Hawkins

1st Vice President (Programs): Sue Garvey

2nd Vice President (Membership): Maura Martindale

Secretary: Sharon Mascari

Treasurer: Lynda Malloy

Thank you to the Nominating Committee for their commitment and hard work to complete this important service to PVRW – Sandi Irwin, Chair; Pilar Hemry, Vice Chair; Linda Letzer, Secretary.

Finally, we extended our appreciation once again to Donna Stehower and her wonderful staff who served a delicious meal to us, and to Luke Cilano operating the audio/visual equipment for us.  The Arizona Rangers are now back with us as we move through 2025 and into candidate season.  They are always appreciative of your generous donations to keep us safe and secure.

Thank you for your continued support of Prescott Valley Republican Women.  Our next luncheon will take place on Thursday, November 6th, so mark your calendars.  We look forward to seeing you then!
