February 2026
On January 24, 2026, the Arizona GOP held their annual mandatory meeting in Prescott Valley at the Findlay Toyota Center. Several thousand exceptional Republican State Committeemen gathered to elect their Executive Leadership Committee for the next 2 years and to vote on recommended Bylaw Amendments for the State party. At the end of the (long) day, a new AZGOP Chairman was elected. Congratulations to Sergio Arellano, the new Chairman of the AZGOP after several rounds of voting. He is succeeding Gina Swoboda, who is moving on to run for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District this year. Many thanks to Gina and her service to our party at many levels these past few years. Why do I mention this? We want to keep everyone informed and current regarding the Republican Party in Arizona, along with our Republican candidates running for office. As your schedule permits, increase your awareness of special events that will provide opportunities for expanding your knowledge about upcoming elections. An example is the upcoming Candidate Debates being sponsored by the Yavapai County Republican Committee at the Ruth Theater on March 21st (please register at yavgop.gov). The beauty of our system is we have the freedom to run for office, to support candidates of our choice running for office, and to express our individual rights by voting for those we believe support and defend our Republican values. So spread the word!
As you are aware, the past few weeks have presented very challenging and disturbing developments in and around our Law Enforcement community. The situation in Minneapolis has become a powder keg, one in which those who oppose law enforcement and what it stands for have grabbed hold and twisted it into an opportunity for creating more lawlessness, with a Governor and Mayor encouraging it rather than stepping up and taking control. Our very own Attorney General, Kris Mayes, has made statements justifying potential situations for harming Law Enforcement. Fortunately, the Arizona Sheriffs’ Association has responded to her irresponsible statements as a government official, especially since she is the State’s chief law enforcement officer. https://azsheriffs.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/ASA-Response-Mayes-Stand-Your-Ground-Jan-2026.pdf
President Trump’s America First Priorities and his “Make America Safe Again” principles addressed the safety and security of the American people as a priority, including:
Taking bold action to secure our border and protect American communities;
Ending the previous Administration’s catch-and-release policies, reinstating Remain in Mexico;
Building the wall, ending asylum for illegal border crossers;
Cracking down on criminal sanctuaries and enhancing the vetting and screening of aliens.
Our Republican Party principles clearly support secure borders and safety for American citizens. Our Law Enforcement organizations – locally, statewide, and nationally – are there to protect the citizens of this great country. The Sheriffs and Police Departments continue to work hard behind the scenes to eradicate all types of lawlessness and crimes to keep everyone safe. They are putting their lives in harms’ way on a daily basis and are always at risk, so let’s keep our Law Enforcement organizations continually in our prayers as they perform important work for all of us. And let’s show our appreciation by supporting them!
On a final note, we need to continue to fight for our freedoms, be mindful of our surroundings, and work tirelessly towards the goal of regaining our Republican majorities in Arizona. Thank you for your continued support of Prescott Valley Republican Women. Let’s not become complacent but rather do our part to learn as much as we can over the next several months and determine our personal plans for being active participants in 2026 for the Republican Party. Our collective efforts will be crucial to the resulting outcome. Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, February 5th!
