July, 2025
It’s almost time to welcome the 249 th birthday of the United States of America! The festivities are widely available, whether you are staying at home within the community,
or traveling to see family and friends in neighboring states. And the opportunities to see celebrations around the country will be yours to choose.
Remember that locally we have our Thursday, July 3 rd PVRW luncheon,
followed by Red, White and Boom in Prescott Valley on July 4th, and the
Prescott Rodeo providing enjoyment throughout the week, culminating with the
Prescott Rodeo Parade on Saturday July 5th. We live in a wonderful Quad-City
location that offers much enjoyment at this time of year.
It has been quite a week for the United States of America and President Trump
and his Administration, which continues to work for the American people at an
astonishing pace. We saw the historic military operation a week ago, initiated
under immense secrecy. The successful coordination of multiple military units
across the globe, strategized and planned for several months, testing the
superior capabilities of the US Military was an extremely successful mission,
obliterating Iran’s nuclear capabilities and setting them back for a significant
period of time. A short time later, President Trump was off to the NATO
Summit, convincing his Allies to agree to increase their defense spending to
5% of their GDP, with a specific emphasis on reaching 3.5% by 2035. This
decision was driven by concerns about Russia's actions and a desire to bolster
NATO's collective defense capabilities. Upon heading back to the US,
President Trump focused his energies on the Big, Beautiful Bill. It moved
through the House by a slim margin and is now in the Senate, being debated,
read aloud in detail, enduring another close vote to move it forward. A short
time remains for the House to act, followed by a final vote prior to President
Trump’s signature. This has been quite a week, and those are just a few of the
highlights. Whether it’s events on the world stage, the federal government
improvements at home, or individual state and local concerns, the Trump
Administration is moving at high speed for the benefit of the American people.
On the local front, a series of NO KINGS rallies recently occurred peacefully
and more are planned for the July 4th weekend. No doubt, these events will
continue for the foreseeable future. My question is: What are they
accomplishing through these rallies? What is the true message and how does
it benefit the American people? And then there is the New York City Mayor
race, which demonstrated how liberal and out of touch this city is with the
American voter. Zohran Mamdami, a Democrat Socialist, won the first round of
the Democrat primary, and the Rank Choice Voting process was on full
display. Now you can see why that process is flawed and dangerous. He
believes in some outrageous policies that can bring potential ruin to the city if
elected. The real estate agents in New York are preparing for a sales boom as
companies and residents are threatening to exit.
Here in Arizona, the Republican candidates are gearing up their campaigns
and it behooves us to ensure we are educated by understanding the issues,
the candidates’ positions on them and how they measure up to our Republican
values. Prescott Valley Republican Women will be featuring candidates for
State and Local offices at our luncheons over the next several months, to
encourage, educate and enlighten our membership. The Arizona 2026
elections are just around the corner, given we are passing the halfway point in
2025. So continue to stay engaged and be an active participant in these very
important decisions. We must take our State back in 2026!
