May 2026
Welcome to the month of May! Not only is this month a beacon of springtime (lots of flowers, and allergies too!), it is full of Tradition. The month of May presents opportunities to remember and honor patriots, family, and our God-given rights that our country offers to all of us.
And what a spectacular start!! The RUN FOR THE ROSES on Saturday was an unbelievable display of grit, determination and energy in the space of 2 minutes. The grandeur of the event was evident, carried by the excitement of the spectators, the extensive preparation, the apprehension of the participants and the beauty of the horses. It was an amazing accomplishment by Golden Tempo at 23-1 odds, and a tribute to his first-time winning jockey Jose Ortiz, the first female horse trainer Cherie Devaux to win the prize, the owners and all of the
handlers. Here’s a link to the last minute of the race with Golden Tempo literally galloping from LAST to FIRST!
FAITH OPPORTUNITIES
The National Day of Prayer will be observed on May 7th, 2026, with scheduled national and local events. In Washington D.C., a national broadcast from Statutory Hall in the US Capitol is scheduled for 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific. Locally, observances are scheduled in numerous locations around the Quad- City area, including one at Park Collective in Prescott Valley at 8AM and at the Courthouse Square at 6PM in Prescott. As you are able and as your schedule permits, our collective prayers for our country, President Trump, First Lady Melania, the cabinet, and those making major decisions for the good of our country are needed more than ever. Keeping a watchful eye on the political races in Arizona is of utmost importance. Continue praying for the candidates who have entered the races as well as their families and associates.
FAMILY MEMORIES
The month of May presents opportunities to celebrate special family occasions. There are graduations, proms, birthdays, and barbeques galore at this time of year. Celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10th is a valued
tradition. Our families will remember those mothers who have gone before us, those mothers who are still with us, the expectant mothers in our midst, our relatives, friends and stepmoms close to us, as well as the young children who are growing up to become mothers. May our memories – both past and present -- of those we hold dear remain in our hearts as we celebrate the gift of motherhood.
FREEDOM & GRATITUDE
May is National Military Appreciation Month in the United States, established by Congress in 1999 to honor, remember, and recognize the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces, including veterans, those currently serving, and their families. It spans several significant military-themed holidays, including Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, and Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Thismonth serves to remind Americans of the vital role the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Space Force, and National Guard play in national
security.
Memorial Day 2026 is Monday, May 25, 2026. As a federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May, it honors U.S. service members who died in military service, often involving displaying the flag at half-staff until noon and observing a 3 p.m. moment of silence. In Yavapai County, a Memorial Day Observance and Ceremony is held annually at Citizen’s Cemetery in nearby Prescott, to honor fallen heroes. And located in Prescott Valley is the first FREEDOM ROCK in Arizona, a visible tribute honoring military service and events specific to Arizonan service and sacrifice. Make a point to visit this emblem of service and express gratitude for those who have made a significant commitment and sacrifice to our great country!
Our country is the greatest and most powerful in the world, and those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve and protect our freedoms deserve our utmost gratitude! With the Arizona Primary election fast approaching, let’s all be grateful for the opportunity to vote and have the ability to make our voices heard. Commit to supporting our candidates and choosing those who represent our values and principles. Each vote matters! Join with me to pledge to vote in 2026, to take back Arizona and elect strong conservatives up and down the ballot!
